You're business blogging. You create great content on a regular basis. You're seeing some results as the traffic picks up and the leads are appearing on a more frequent basis. But you want more. Your well-crafted, well-written blog still needs to find more readers. The question is: how do you do it. Here's the nice thing about the web – most of what todays small business marketing plans should include, are free. The web brings you more for less. Your small business can leverage a lot of the same Internet marketing strategies and tactics as your larger competitors. You just gotta know how to use them. Like promoting your business blog to help you find more readers.
Think of your blog post as a billboard. It sits in a forest in rural 'wherever you are'. A few people will find it and read it, but to gain real exposure, you need to place it on the side of a busy expressway leading into a large metropolis. Place your blog on a social media marketing super highway that leads to more readers.

Here are some ideas that will help market your business blog -
1.) Start with your homepage – This sounds like a no-brainer, but you'd be surprised at the number of big brands that don't promote their blog on their main site. Market your blog on your homepage to encourage audience participation.
2.) Social media expressway – Even slim small business budgets can leverage the same tools as the big boys – like social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube etc. Share your thought provoking, well-crafted articles and feed them into these channels. Our HubSpot partners provide us with software that does this automatically. Every article that's published is broadcast to an even larger audience – which could bring a further number of new readers to your site.
3.) Directories freeway – Why not socialize your blog. There are literally hundreds of directories that you can submit your blog posts to. Some directories may charge a fee but there are a lot that are free. Do your homework to make sure that they're reputable directories as search engines notice these things.
4.) Off-line express – As traditional ad dollars continue to move aside to digital, print is still a widely accepted compliment to most small business marketing. Add your blog URL to any print marketing communications such as: your business cards, stationery (like invoices) and other correspondence and company collateral materials.
5.) Write – Keep writing and never stop. Persistence with patience will pay off in the long run. Your audience is looking for what you've promised, and that's great content. Keep that promise going, as it is the key factor toward your continuing success.
