Your business blog just got better –

Are you struggling with your company blog. Are your blog posts just okay? If you want to improve the content in your business blogs, then keep reading.
I write a lot about blogging and content in general because I know how critical it is to the success of your Inbound marketing goals. And, one of the fastest ways to create content and broadcast your wealth of knowledge, is through blogging. Every blog post should respect the following needs: educate, entertain, and engage. We wrote about this just recently, you can read up on it here.
This 2-step process is your reference to writing relevant, compelling articles that your target will find informative, and enjoy reading. It will help guide you through the process of optimizing your blog articles, so you’ll turn more visitors into leads, and create reason for visitors to share your articles.
Step #1: Write about relevant topics –
Before you initiate your next article, sit back and think for a moment about your buyer persona. (You can learn more about buyer persona here with HubSpot’s David Meerman Scott.
You should have previously identified who you’re targeting and what their challenges might be. People don’t care about products and services; instead, they care about themselves and about solving their problems. Keep your articles focused on how you can help. The content that you create will be a solution to those people’s problems and will not mention your company or products at all.
And like any magazine or newspaper, what draws people in, is your headline. So how you title your article is a very important part of your post. Think of a (keyword rich) title that will peak someone’s curiosity, and encourage people to click on your article. Step #2: Don’t just write, mix it up –
Think about interesting ways that you can communicate your message. Writing content is only one way to keep your audience engaged. Make it a point to use images, screenshots and video to communicate your message with more punch. Make sure you match the image file name to the keyword you’re targeting. You also need to make sure the image’s alt text matches that same keyword.
Greg Karoly does a pretty good job at mixing video with his blog. Most people prefer to watch video over reading lengthy copy any day.

And, your readers will appreciate the fact that you’re breaking up the text with visual elements too. If you’re referencing data, numbers, graphs and charts – provide the proof to support your claim. When it comes from a reputable source like Forester Research for example, it adds credibility – so remember to add a link to those sources that you use. Our Inbound marketing partners at HubSpot offer some great stats, charts and graphs that you might be interested in referencing.

Now it’s your turn. What do you think makes a great blog post? Tell me, was this helpful? Did you find it informative, interesting and easy to read?
