Holy smokes! We’re just around the corner from closing off yet another year. If you’re like most of us Internet marketers, you’ve spent a great deal of time over this past year just trying to keep pace with all that encompasses your Internet marketing. Social media, blogging, SEO, analytics, web design, it continues to evolve. So what’s taking shape for 2012? What are the trends and predictions to come and how will you embrace some of these changes and incorporate them into your Internet marketing plans for next year.
#1: Social media as part of your 2012 Internet marketing plans –
There is and will continue to be an oversaturation in the circles of social media. How much of your time can be allocated to social media? You could spend 24 hours a day social networking but most us simply can’t afford to do that. It appears as though there are enough sites (also with the emergence of Google+) to satisfy us all. Facebook, the goliath of social networking owns the top spot with a 64.5% share leaving Google+ behind with only 0.5%. Creating another site that will demand even more of your time and attention will only further distract you from other important Internet marketing tactics.
#2: Blogging as part of your 2012 Internet marketing plans –
In 2012 content still rules. As a matter of fact, content and blogging in particular will continue to be an essential Internet marketing ingredient. However, Corporate blogging although healthy, latest findings from eMarketer indicate no increase at all from 2010 to 2011.

The emphasis on quality vs. quantity will grow as a result of the new freshness algorithm Google introduced. Published articles, blogging specifically will become richer but shorter with the abundance of available content and as your time becomes more valuable.
#3: Web design as part of your 2012 Internet marketing plans –
I have an iPad and iPhone and experience the frustration of Flash sites. Flash will probably die and most web design will eliminate the use of it altogether. Adobe apparently is already working on a HTML5 implementation instead. Inbound marketing strategies will take precedent in pursuit of qualified lead generation. Filling the pipeline by luring prospects through calls-to-action and landing pages throughout the website.
So what do you think? Are you planning to take action with your business website in 2012. Will any of these trends or predictions influence your Internet marketing plans in the New Year?
