8 Great resources to help you improve your social media presence.

1) Snapchat

You've heard of Snapchat haven't you?

It's one of the hottest apps to hit mobile users since Instagram.

Snapchat's unique demographic is one of the biggest factors behind its soaring success. For brands forever trying to connect with tomorrow's consumers, Snapchat offers access to a highly coveted demographic (mostly between 13 and 25 years old).

Essentially, Snapchat is a mobile app you can download on your iPhone or Android smartphone, which you can then use to chat with friends and family, sending photos and videos.

But with one twist.

A Snapchat picture, or snap, is only available for a set time limit from 1 to 10 seconds, once the user opens it.

2) Instagram

Content may be king but visuals rule.

When it comes to quick, clear communication, visuals trump text almost every time.

How hot is visual marketing? Visual content has made Instagram one of the hottest social media networks, sharing more than 70 million photos and videos each day.

Today, more than ever, marketers are trying to capture and engage the short attention span of web users. Visuals help to cut through the content clutter, making communication in general simpler, less complex.

In addition to its visual appeal, users are highly engaged with the platform. Each day, half of all users spend an average of 21 minutes on the app. The ability to make an impact with a single piece of content is growing rapidly, giving the visual network real, measurable value for brands.

3) Twitter

Twitter is one of those social media power tools, that should be part of every marketers arsenal.

Used successfully, Twitter can help develop and promote your brand, interact with your fan base, monitor conversations about your company, promote thought leadership and (the best of all) actually help to generate leads and customers.

Twitter is a powerful tool when it is used well. It is one of the few mediums that can easily simulate viral marketing if you happen to be lucky enough.

4) Pinterest

Like Instagram, visuals are what makes Pinterest a success today.

Thousands of businesses have become part of the Pinterest community, sharing great ideas, content and inspiration to people on Pinterest.

From fashion retailers like Anthropologie sharing fall merchandise, Whole Foods teasing us with tasty recipes, the Smithsonian sharing fascinating collections or Amazon making products easy to pin, many of us have been inspired by what we see on Pinterest.

As with any social network, Pinterest offer a range of activities you can initiate to help market your business to a new audience. The goal: to gain brand recognition, drive traffic back to your website and be successful at converting the new visits into leads.

5) Facebook

There's plenty of competition flooding the social media landscape but Facebook still rules.

As of August 2015, CEO Mark Zuckerberg told his followers that "one in seven people on planet Earth used Facebook." Facebook, as of July 2015, has an average 968 million daily users. About 1.5 billion users checked their account at least once a month. Pretty impressive numbers.

Clearly Facebook has become a key marketing piece for business success. But while everyone knows about Facebook and many small and medium size businesses have taken the first step by creating a business page, many are still challenged by how to maximize Facebook's potential to build brand loyalty and drive revenue.

In the Facebook edition you'll hear how others are leveraging Facebook to help amplify their brand and grow their business in many different and unique ways. Go ahead and grab your Facebook edition.

Have you heard of Periscope?

Periscope is a newborn on the social scene, but getting a lot of attention. Launched earlier this year, Periscope is gaining a lot of attention as the subject of real-time video streaming on Twitter heats up.

Periscope is a new iOS app that lets you create live streaming video that connects to your Twitter account, (by the way Twitter owns Periscope) allowing you to tweet links to your live broadcast, so that followers can tune in and see/hear what you're doing in real-time.

7) Meerkat

A fierce competitor to Periscope is Meerkat.

Obviously live-streaming is where it's at. Enter Meerkat, another live video streaming app but with a twist. Meerkat automatically tweets out that the video is streaming on the user's Twitter account. Unlike other video-sharing platforms such as YouTube, however, Meerkat streams are ephemeral.

Once the live stream is over, the video disappears from the site. It's something like Snapchat, except that you're sharing with anyone who wants to watch, not just your friends.
