Audi, out of the ordinary

Audi hails as an innovator with a brand that exudes confidence and progressive thinking. I came across a new concept of billboard that I thought was worth passing on. The idea comes from Access Agency who have created a number of floating billboards that’s best seen than described. An amazing concept that’s a perfect fit for a company associated with the latest in technology. Take a look for yourself and let me know what you think.

Social Media as a part of your Marketing Strategy

It’s obvious that social media is becoming a more powerful marketing tool.

For example, Dunkin’ Donuts initiated a Fan Contest with the hopes of finding its most passionate fan through a Facebook Page video call-to-action. Social media channels like Facebook and Twitter continue to gather steam and should be an essential part of your marketing strategy.

And another shameless plug for Lifestyles Plus as they search for Fans on Facebook. You still have a chance to WIN a gourmet gift basket just by visiting and becoming a Lifestyles Plus fan. Here’s the link.

Designers: Take a break and watch these funny videos

Just a shout out to all you designers out there. Check out these videos, I thought they were rather humorous. Find some time and sift through a few of the 15 videos available (hats off to Cheth Studios).

I personally think the “How NOT to use Powerpoint” and “Make my logo bigger” were hilarious, what do you think?

Historypin is a digital database of historic photos and stories from around the world. Partnered with Google, Historypin allows you to compare photos with their modern day location.

What is your favorite U.S dollar redesign

The American Dollar has not been truly redesigned since about 1930s, and with the way the American economy is recovering it seems U.S is in the need of a rebranding strategy…starting with the redesign of the American dollar. This is the idea of the creative strategy consultant Richard Smith, who organized The Dollar ReDe$ign Project.

Submissions for the competition are now closed but the voting ends on September 30.

Which one is your favorite? Personally I’m in favor of the vertical designs submitted by British duo Dowling Duncan.

Clickjacking Attack Spreads Virally on Facebook (WARNING)

Here's something that I thought was worthy of passing on. Apparently there's a Facebook scam affecting thousands of users and is spreading like wildfire through their status updates.

It doesn’t appear that this clickjacking attack spreads malware, but it¹s a clear case of spam, and thus annoying to most users.

Please, check this article on AllFacebook.com for more details.

The truth about bottled water

I know most of us like to drink bottled water and we're all under the assumption that bottled water is BETTER for you vs. regular tap water. Well, I have news for you. I found something about bottled water that I thought was worth passing on.

So I encourage you to take 8-minutes out of your day, grab a 'fresh' bottle of water and watch this animated video – you'll love it.

Here's the video – let us know what you think.

From the website: The Story of Stuff.

Could this be the future of touch screen technology?

This is way to cool to pass up. I came across the Swedish technology and design firm TAT. They offer their take on how touch screen technology is upgraded and revolutionized in the near future. Check out the video and see where they believe the future of technology will take us. I want it now - how about you?

Start designing and building your web pages directly from Illustrator

There's no need to mock up your layouts on Illustrator and then start rebuilding them from scratch using HTML and CSS.

Now Adobe is releasing an add-on pack for its Illustrator vector-drawing package that turns the software into an HTML5 authoring tool that will help you design web and device content and output HTML5 directly.

Kindle 3 vs. iPad

Amazon promotes the new Kindle 3 and its new $139 price point in their new spot. It directly compares it to what is clearly an iPad. It reminds me of the days of the burger wars – Wopper vs. Big Mac. I’m not lucky enough to have either product, so I can’t provide my feedback. Kindle however, has a more attractive price tag to me – how about you? Let me know what your thoughts are, we’d love to hear from you.

eBay Box

This October eBay is lunching this year’s grand prize winner of the eBay Innovation Expo: A box that is designed to be used more than once, in fact if you use it at least five times, you could protect nearly 4,000 trees, save 2.4 million gallons of water and conserve enough energy to power 49 homes for a year.

The boxes have beautiful illustrations and what’s really cool about it is that whoever receives the box can write a little message so people can track where the box has been.

Facebook vs. Google and Yahoo

According to the fresh data that comes from comScore it appears that Facebook is gaining ground on Google once again. The data indicates that time spent on Facebook was greater than time spent on Google sites for the fist time in history. And it appears that Yahoo is not doing so well as it continues to slide from the top.

Book Review: OGILVY ON ADVERTISING

Ogilvy on Advertising book

For all those who've been in the ad business as I have – I know you'll appreciate this… Ogilvy on Advertising. It's a little dated – published in 1983 – but some of the lessons that Ogilvy talks about in his book still stand today – and of course some don't. Here's an excerpt: … "I assumed that advertising would go through several changes before I retire – so far there has only been ONE – that's television, as it has emerged as the most potent medium for selling most products today".

What do you think he'd say about television today vs. Inbound marketing.

Need ideas for your next project – try using a visual thesaurus

Using a cluster diagram or mind-map is a great way to brainstorm and generate ideas - especially if you're feeling stuck.

I just found this great online tool, that's bound to save you a lot of time because “it does all the work for you”. Just type a word and it will give you a number of keywords that you can click on, listen to their pronunciation and expand to see more options… you can try it for free.

I think is worth checking it out: visualthesaurus.com

McProject with a happy meal

This week I came across a project by New York photographer Sally Davies: She took a photograph every day of a McDonalds 'happy meal' (burger and fries) over the course of 137 days.

You'd expect the burger and fries to get moldy and gross but guess what? They look exactly the same as they did on day one. Mmm….pretty scary!

Amazing breast cancer print ads out of Singapore

Are you obsessed with the right things? Breast cancer ad

‘Are you obsessed with the right things?’

I found these innovative print ads sponsoring the Breast Cancer Foundation of Singapore quite amusing. See if you do a ‘double-take’ as I did. Illustrator Andy Yang Soo painted a model's body and photographer Allan Ng took the photos. They certainly caught my attention. What about you?
